Ask us about your target country!
CULTURE OPTIONS offers your culture know-how on more than 50 countries.
Basics. How to surface when you jump in at the deep end. Plus a few ideas on the meaning of 'culture' and 'intercultural communication' today. Particularly worthwhile if you have only a little time.
What should you know about your target country because it plays a role? Which are the expectations that you can expect? How do establish first contacts?
Recommended time: 1 day minimum.
For a deeper understanding, once you have mastered the arrival phase, or if you have previous knowledge of your target location.
What are the fundamental similarities and differences between your own 'culture,' your own network and context, your own value system – and the new context in your target country or region? Where do those perhaps markedly different mentalities come from, what defines them today? How do you develop meaningful relationships, how do you give successful presentations, how do you lead? Last not least, which challenges await you in your everyday life and private surroundings?
Recommended time: 1-2 days.
More than mere basics: sustainable competence development.
Expats often need many of the competencies from the areas of adjustment and resilience. They are often chosen for their assignments as they are trusted to achieve a good transfer of knowledge. It is often underestimated how important that is also during the re-entry phase after a relocation. Expats and inpats (like people in other functions, too) need distinct skills of communication. In our training or coaching we concentrate on the most important areas of competencies, with real-life examples and Critical Incidents. If necessary, individual assessment of intercultural competencies.

Support during your professional assignment abroad, in the form of coaching. To deal with unexpected or ongoing intercultural challenges. For expatriates abroad and inpatriates in Germany.
Anytime, ongoing, best results from about 4-8 weeks in the target country.
About 90 minutes per conversation. The duration of the coaching depends on the requirements of the coachee.
Preparing to return and re-integrate, in your home country as well as in your organization; for expatriates abroad and inpatriates in Germany.
Mastering 'reverse culture shock' is a bigger challenge for many expats than integrating in the target country: How you can best transfer your experience and newly gained competencies after your return home.
Best within 4-8 weeks before or after re-entry.
Recommended time: half a day at least.
